Infection control

The following infection control tools are being developed:

• HARMONY infection control national questionnaire (pdf file)
  - to determine the current national guidelines and policy development processes.

• HARMONY infection control guidelines (pdf file)
  -draft guidelines that have been distributed and are currently being assessed in eight EU countries.

• HARMONY infection control guidelines – hospital feedback tool (pdf file)
  - to provide feedback on the above guidelines.

Progress

At a meeting in Brussels in March an expert group reviewed all the results from the HARMONY infection control feedback from the hospitals. Over 200 healthcare workers in 41 hospitals in six countries have used the tool. The initial analyses have been fed-back to all the hospitals. There was a remarkable level of agreement amongst participants but several areas where discussion and continued debate will be required. We are modifying the statements to see if we can resolve any residual problems. We plan to make the new guidelines available on this site for further discussion. We are also interacting with any ongoing national development work in the participating countries.

The remaining objectives were also discussed at our meeting and we will update this site on progress as soon as possible.
